How to crochet it

  1. Pick a cap color and a 5 mm hook

    About 25 yards total in worsted weight. A 5.0 mm (H/8) hook gives a mushroom of roughly 17 × 12 cm.

  2. Work 17 rows bottom-up

    One cell = one single crochet, starting at the stem. The cap dome and spots come in the last third — the spots are small two-stitch clusters, the only real counting moment.

  3. Plant the fairy ring

    A row of alternating red and pink mushrooms makes a blanket border; a scattered field of them on a cream throw is the full cottagecore statement.
