How to crochet it

  1. Gather your materials

    Click any chart's download button — the PNG has the grid, legend, and per-color stitch counts, no account and no email wall. These free crochet blanket patterns all use #4 worsted yarn with a 5.0–5.5 mm hook plus a tapestry needle and scissors: 4 colors for the ripple, 6 for the granny, 8 shades for the temperature blanket.

  2. Check the finished size

    At the standard 16 sc × 18 rows = 10 cm gauge, the 48 × 40 ripple chart is one 30 × 22 cm repeat and the 29 × 29 granny chart is one ≈ 15 cm square. Swatch 10 cm, measure, and scale to your target size — the yarn calculator does the skein conversion (a ripple throw runs ≈ 2,800–3,200 yds, a year blanket ≈ 2,500–3,500).

  3. Work the chart as a repeat

    The ripple is one repeated row worked back and forth across the full width, the granny grows from the center out one square at a time, and the temperature blanket adds one row per day in the day's shade. All three use basic stitches and worsted yarn — you almost certainly have the supplies to start tonight.

  4. Change colors cleanly

    Finish the last stitch of the old color with the new one. Ripple and temperature stripes change at the row end — carry the yarn up the side if the band returns soon; the granny changes color at each new round, joined in a corner space.

  5. Add a border and finish

    Work one round of single crochet around the blanket with 3 sc in each corner, weave in the ends with the tapestry needle, and give it a light steam block to square everything up.

  6. Turn it into a finished piece

    Three commitments, three blankets: the sage ripple for meditative evenings, the join-as-you-go granny for stash-busting progress, the pastel temperature blanket for a year-long ritual. Pick one and it stops being a chart and starts being the blanket on your sofa.

Yes — downloadable charts with no email wall and no account. We make money later from an optional Pro tier of the pattern generator (clean exports, PDF packs), not from charging for charts.

Can I sell blankets made from these patterns?

Yes — selling finished handmade blankets is fine. The charts themselves may not be resold or republished as your own patterns.

What's the catch compared to paid blanket patterns?

No catch — but a difference: paid patterns usually include a photographed finished blanket and tech-edited written rows. These are original stitch charts with counted grids; the 'finish' is the chart itself, and the stitch counts are exact.

Which free blanket pattern should I start with?

The granny square if you want portable progress, the ripple if you want one flowing project, the temperature blanket if you want a year-long ritual. All three use only basic stitches.

Can I get more free charts?
